Professor Ronnie Bailey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University. He has over 38 years of experience teaching in the area of architectural design and urban planning. Before joining NC A&T, he worked as a design consultant and planning administrator for projects such as downtown revitalization, planned united developments, historical district, land‐use plans, and zoning and building code reviews. He brings this experience into the classroom to teach, train and mentor his students to be leaders in Architectural Engineering.
During his academic career, he has received honors as Teacher of the year from his department six times and two Teacher of the Year Awards. He has been advisor to student organizations such as the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI). Mr. Bailey has demonstrated a passion for ensuring that our engineering students have a global understanding that is fostered through international travel, experiences, and study abroad tours. His travels include taking groups of students to Oxford University, London, England, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, Greece, Germany and Switzerland. He encourages students to travel internationally to help expand their minds to the idea of working abroad, studying abroad and understanding other cultures. He has served as the Director of the Summer Study Abroad Program in the Department of Architectural Engineering. This role has hence transitioned to a leadership role within the entire College of Engineering as a leader for the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program between NC A&T and VA Tech Rising Sophomore Abroad Program and the new initiative in the College for the Global Engineering Leadership Program.
In February 2019, Professor Bailey will be presented with the STEM Innovator Award during the Black Engineer of the Year Awards program.Professor Bailey is dedicated to his family and Aggie family with his passion to be a role model and leader in his community.
