My name is Anne Kraus and I have exciting news to share with you! God has called me to be a full-time missionary. Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of going on many different short-term missions trips, but for the past year I have been praying about full-time service. After looking into various missions organizations and the routes to full time service, I have decided on Youth With A Mission (YWAM). To become a full-time staff member with YWAM requires two separate schools. The first, Discipleship Training School (DTS) is an extensive school that focuses on developing a personal relationship with God and how to relate this to evangelism. The second is a School of Ministry Development (SOMD) that I will complete when I return from my DTS. I have been accepted to DTS program with YWAM in Newcastle, Australia. Now, this school also happens to combine a DTS program with a school that focuses on developing coffee skills. No, you didn’t read that wrong, I wrote “coffee skills”.
This brings me to the passion that has been instilled in me: using coffee to reach people in closed nations with the gospel. Small coffee shops are quickly becoming one of the top ways for missionaries in nations closed to the gospel to have an opportunity to support their ministries and connect with the local people. Coffee is universally loved and is a market with enough steady growth to allow steady income for many missionaries. My passion is learning how to train up those that want to go into the mission field to be able to use coffee as a ministry tool.
This brings me back to Australia. YWAM Newcastle is one of the very few bases in the world to offer a DTS with a coffee focus. The school is 6 months in total, with 3 months of lecture and learning and 3 months of outreach in another country, to both serve the people of whatever country that is, and also to apply what I have learned in the lecture phase.
I am in search of two types of partners for this trip. The first is prayer partners. I have been learning over the past few years, and will continue to learn I’m certain, the importance of prayer and intercession. Before I leave for Australia, my hope is that I will have 50 people commit to pray for me at least once weekly. These partners will receive a monthly email from me with a list of specific prayer requests. The other type of partner I am looking for is that of a financial partner. With flights to and from Australia, and the cost of the DTS and outreach, I am looking to raise $10,500. I am looking for partners to prayerfully give one-time or monthly, whatever amount the Lord has put on their hearts.
